I am having problems with a hp1055cm+ and vista business. Every time I boot up my PC a window pops up informing me the PC has found new hardware. I go through the motions of installing the printer selecting the "1055cm plus driver by HP" from the drop down list. On the first occasion I selected print test page and the printer sprung into life, after clicking finish I tried to print a test page again but nothing happened. Rebooted PC and it found new hardware to be installed i.e. the printer.

Both printer and PC show ready but as soon as I attempt to print a test page the printer shows "ready" but the printer icon on the pc changes to error.

I know there are problems with other HP design jets and vista, but I thought the 1055cm was compatible.

Check your Device Manager. Are there any badly installed devices?

Everything seems to be installed OK, Device manager shows that LPT1 is working OK but I have no actual connector for the port. Only USB outlets.

Is this the source of your printer driver?
If not then it should be.

The printer drivers came from this web site.

I have got hpdj 1050 umpsX86en.exe, 1000wumpsen.exe and 1000wumglen.exe . Tried them all without success.

I have downloaded a 3rd party driver from WinLine and installed.

There is an improvement? click print test page, printer file status on PC changes from ready to error, printer changes from ready to printing, but it only makes a noise as if it wants to start printing.
