Hi guys! I'm about to upgrade my old unit > i5 6500 to a ryzen 7 2700. My only plan for this year end is to upgrade the cpu , ram and mobo 1st and gpu will follow around late Feb or early March. Will my 1060 6gb still do good w/ ryzen 7 2700? Btw before you ask why ryzen 7, a shop offered a discount costing just $180 for a ryzen 7 2700 and a mobo/

Solution
Hey! I ran a 2700x with 1060 6gb for about 9 months. It worked perfectly for me. Definitely a step up from the 2400g I was running, But they definitely work well together. There is certainly more room for GPU improvement, especially when you take into consideration what kind of games I play. I eventually upgraded to a evga 1080ti since i couldnt pass up a deal of someone selling one for 300 bucks.

Yes your CPU is the biggest upgrade going from the 6500 to the 2700. Like the other poster said above me the 1060 is still a good card and you can hang onto it and save up for a current gen release or if your happy with the performance wait till next release cycle
