Hey out there

Im looking into a new gpu and i cannot decide on which to get? Im gaming in 1080p with a 144hz monitor, and price on GPU have some matter - im not sure that i think the 1070 is worth the extra cost for the few extra fps i get? Roughly 20 fps in difference is What i see in ultra tests so far.. but never then less - which is more suitable for my setup?

Asus GeForce DUAL OC
1060 6gb VS. 1070

i5 8600K OC to 4.6ghz
Asus Rog Strix Z370-F Gaming
16 GB ram 3000 MHz

I must say im not getting a 1070Ti because Its simply to expensive

Measure up games you would be likely to play on how they perform at 1080p comparing 1070, 1070Ti, 1080 and 1080Ti. Most games listed at Anandtech if interest aren't reaching 144fps at decent quality settings. If your monitor was 60Hz then yeah there would be argument for overkill for any of these high end cards.

1060 is roughly 980 level in performance to help you reference Anantech's comparisons. And would be the more ideal card for 1080p 60Hz. 144Hz 1070 and up.

Get the best you can afford at the time. if you can spring a bit for the 1070 I say do so as it will serve longer than the 1060. IDK the prices but always get the BEST you can AFFORD at the time.
beyond that make sure you get a DUAL fan cooler on the card, or more. a single fan card is less reliable IMHO, if the fan fails the card dies, a dual or triple fan solution can survive the failure of a single fan and some even have replaceable fans
