Hi guys!

Built a new PC the other day after selling my old GTX970 build. Went for the 1060 and I feel very dissapointed. My games aren't running nearly as good as they did on my 970, and I can't help but think my card my be faulty or something.

I just ran a standard 1080p stress test on furmark and I'm pulling 50fps with anti-aliasing at x4, I used to easily get 70 plus on my 970. With all settings down on csgo im getting around 140fps where as on my 970 I was around 290/300.

Maybe my GPU is not seated properly on the motherboard, but then again, would it even work if that was the case?

Any help would be much appreciated, as you can image I am very deflated that my old last gen system outperforms this one.

It's a fresh build so it didn't have any drivers prior to the latest from Nvidia

Fresh build as in all new CPU/ram/motherboard? If so, then it's just as likely your issue is somewhere else, and not with the 1060. First thing I'd do is run 3dmark, that's because you can compare your score on their website to other people with the same CPU/GPU combo as you. This will give you a preliminary indication of whether your system's basic configuration is correct or not.

I never trust "my old videocard always gave me higher fps" comparisons, because too many variables are involved. That was a whole different computer, with its own combination of chipset drivers/OS/drivers and so on. First you want to be sure this new computer is all up to date and working properly. Then you can start in with testing specific bits of software.

Okay, thanks. I'll run some tests now and get back with the results!

Edit: Don't have the money to buy 3DMark 🙁
