1060 6gb Windows issue.

Hi all, had issues with the install of this but now all new problems.

was trying to play a game yesterday and then find out windows has disabled the card for some reason, then the colours on the screen broke up.
After reset it would not post at all, I swapped slots, power connectors, and even the rail on the PSU and finally it boots after 4 hours of trying but the card is still showing as disabled.
Bad card all this time? PSU or MB issue? HELP!!!

Hard to make an educated guess if you don't list the system specs including make/model of both card (new or used?) and PSU.

Corsair HX850 PSU plus

I am also only getting a picture on the DVI right now, not out of the HDMI for some reason, that may be down to windows disabling it maybe?

Do you have access to another card you can try on the system? Or maybe another machine to try the card on? We have to determine if it is the card first. Did you buy the card new?

Yes and at time of install the old one worked and the new one didn't.
I bought it new, and have been using it for nearly 2 months

Obviously you'd want to replace it temporarily with the old card to see if the issues are still present. If not, I would have consider the possibility it is a defective card.

It may indeed be defective, I have emailed the retailer and hope they can replace it.
I could run the 660ti just to have a working pc I guess.
Is that the only thing in the chain that may cause issues?

660ti is back in and it booted right up and worked

well. u could just replace the power cable.. i dont know how it cause a messed up sometime. but it broke at least 2 gpu cards in my room.. replaced it and it done

Same cables, the 660ti is 2x 6 pin
The 1060 is 1x 8pin

Really? Would that matter??
Will swap cards again tomorrow and try

Sent the 1060 back and it's coming back as no fault found.
Could it be the PSU? Or has the thing just had it?
Could it be the age if the MB?
