1060 & a regular 144hz monitor OR 480 & 144hz FREESYNC monitor?

I want to play competitive games at 144fps.
The second choice is +50$.
The cards performance match in DX12 although I heard that nvidia is better overall, but does freesync worth it?

what games are you going to be playing?
do you think you will be hitting 144fps much?
i'd prefer the 1060 too but i'm not sure how much screen tearing you'll get with a 144hz monitor, so perhaps the second option.

If you're gaming competitively, FreeSync is worth it, but that extra $50, which I assume is for the 8GB version of the RX 480, isn't worth it. Get the 4GB version instead.
