Quick question I was wondering if this card : https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_1060_Gaming_X/
Is compatible with my system :

Operating system - Windows 7 Ultimr 64-bit SP1

CPU - Intel Core i7 930 @ 2.80GHz

RAM - 10GB Triple Channel DDR3 @ 534MHz

Motherboard - ASUSTeK Computer INC. P6X58D-E

GPU - Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 2047MB

Monitor - BenQ GW2760 (1920x1080@60Hz)

Storage - 931GB SAMSUNG HD103SJ ATA Device (SATA)
59GB Crucial c300-CTF DDAC064MAG SCSI Disk drive (SSD)

PSU - EVGA supernova 600-650 w gold

It will be swapped out for 680 and I will later be building a new rig. Will my current system cause any bottleneck and is this the right graphics card to purchase or should I save more to get a 1070 so it will last longer in terms of future proof.

I'm in the same situation (An i7 870). I've been doing some research. It seems both cards can bottleneck the CPU in certain games, but not all, or even most. In YouTube, search your processor (or any similar i7 1st gen) and GTX 1060, or 1070, and a few benchmarks will pop up. They look promising! One person mentioned stuttering might be a problem, but I've never read that anywhere else.I was going to go with a 1060, but with the 1070's so close in price now, why not? Also, O/C your 930 to about 3.3 or 3.4. 1st gen usually overclock well.

1060 is a solid 1080p card right now, that said 1070 prices are pretty killer right now. If I were you I'd go 1070. Yes its bottlenecked a bit but not to a point of playability issues and thats all that actually matters. Both cards will work fine on your system.

Is there any specific 1070 I should try to purchase as I will most likely go for brand new as I don’t trust used so which brands are best and are there different fan version if so which are better for me

Find the cheapest one you can. EVGA preferably, but they are all basically pretty similar. EVGA has a better warranty.
