1060 to a 1070 worth it?

Hello all! I'm in a situation. My monitor died yesterday after 5 years and decided to buy another one. I currently have a GTX 1060 6GB and wanted to buy my first ever 144hz monitor. I did tons of research and found out that the 1060 cant fulfill the 144hz monitor to the full potential. The question being asked is that should i upgrade to a 1070 and just buy a monitor under $300, or is the 1060 capable of running 144hz? Thanks!

If you're alright with slightly lower settings in 2016 AAA games the 1060 is sufficient

Upgrading to a 1070 is terrible value imo

Ditto, if you're going to upgrade to something, the 1080/1080ti is the minimum jump you'll want to make.

it's your money - will there be a performance difference, especially considering you want that refresh rate, yes.

Is it worth the money, it depends how you feel about your current setup - I went from a 4GB 770 to a 6GB 1060 and am obliviously happy with the difference in performance but I am only playing at 1080p @ 60hz. I would say wait until Nvidia releases their next generation of cards (not the refresh that's scheduled this year, the next version which I think will be early 2018).
