Recently I had decided to go for a 1060 for my PC with and i5-4670k. I was wondering if I did have the cash to spare and go for a 1070, would it lead to a major bottleneck?

On a side note, I was confused on the Variant of GPU to go for. Zotac has caught my eye due to its low pricing compared to other variants, but does it perform on par with the other variants?

Solution
No, it wouldn't be a major bottleneck. Only bottlenecks would be in CPU intensive games, but you would still get pretty good performance. Zotac is cheaper but performs on par. They have lower warranties. EVGA has the best warranties.

Thank you. Would you recommmend the MSI or ASUS Strix models?

The term bottlenecking gets misused a lot.

There is absolutely no possible way that using a 1070 would ever cause you to have lesser performance than using a 1060.

Which one you should go for, usually, is really more dependent on your monitor's resolution and refresh rate.

Bottlenecking is a general term used to reference when one component of a system isn't performing as well as it could due to the limitations of another component.

He wasn't asking if the 1070 would get lower performance than the 1060. Getting lower performance would simply indicate asevere bottleneck. Bottlenecking can be small or large.

Possibly - there do seem to be questions that are posted regarding bottlenecking where the assumption seemed to be that the upgrade would do more harm than good. The wording of OP's question led me to believe the concern was similar.

Plus, given those sites that try to come up with a bottleneck number, and imply that more bottlenecking is worse than less automatically.... ah, well, if I keep going, I'm going to rant!
