1070 > 1080ti Drivers Do I need to uninstall and reinstall drivers

Never installed a graphics card before and I’m upgrading from a 1070 to a 1080ti, do I need to uninstall my current gpu drivers? I googled it and it’s just all mixed answers, some say yes and some say no. I just don’t want any problems, so am I okay to keep the current drivers and just swap out the cards and that’s it or uninstall drivers before putting the new one in? And how would I go about uninstalling them? Through control panel or a program like DDU or?

You may get mixed answers here to.

I say, yes! Uninstall the old drivers.

Yeah I know that the Drivers are the same (version). But still, there may be some things that are shaped for the 1070. Just uninstall your drivers, then put out the 1070 and put in the 1080ti and install the new drivers. You may use DDU yes.

I went from a 970 to a 1080 Ti without an uninstall. Some would recommend DDU( Includes instruction) going from an AMD card over to Nvidia.

I started a chat session with Nvidia. I asked him if a driver install is necessary when the physical install is complete. I suggested upgrading from a 1070 over the the 1080 Ti.

Sangeeta: After you install the new Graphic card, you can go ahead and install the latest driver for the new card.
User: After the physical install a fresh driver install is recommended?
Sangeeta: Yes. It is recommended.
User: Okay. Got it!
Sangeeta: Perfect.

It's best to follow Nvidia's recommendation.
