Hi there,

I just upgraded my previous 3 years old gygabite gtx 770 OC version with a 1070 from the same producer, OC version too (although I didnt overclock it yet, just bought the damn thing). Aside from the upgrade, my rig is from august 2013 with CPU Intel I7 4770 and AsrockB85Pro4 Motherboard. Before I bought my new GPU i checked some benchmarks and from what i've seen, 1070 should have no problem running all modern games at max settings.

I just tried Rise Of The Tomb Raider at max settings and it seems to be suffering some serious framerate drops at times, even though i have absolutely no problem running games with settings at the absolute zenith like the new Doom. Is the new tomb raider that graphically demanding that not even this card can answer the challenge? Or is a bottleneck the real problem?

I am not really that experienced when it comes to hardware, I know only the basic stuff, so what am I missing?

Solution
Ah, I see.
It's most likely just DX12 playing up again, try to do a fresh driver wipe and install and verify the cache of Tomb Raider.
Usually this stuff can be solved quite easily, I wouldn't be worried about any hardware faults.
My specs: Chassis Cooltek Antiphon Silver
Gigabyte GTX 1070 OC windforce
Intel I7 4770 3.4Ghz
AsRock B85 pro 4 Motherboard
Cooler Thermalright Macho 120
Memory Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB DDR3 1600MHz CL9
Seasonic G Series 550W power supply

I forgot to mention that I run all games at the very max settings, but only with tomb raider do i encounter this problem and my brother reportedly encountered ocasional stuttering when playing CS:GO altough only after some time. But CS:GO doesn't fit the ,,eye candy'' cathegory very well. so I'm quite at an impasse.
