Not sure if this is the correct section, but it started with trying to change gpus so here goes...

System specs:
i5 3570k
Gigabyte Z77-DS3H
4x4gb Corsair vengeance 1600mhz
Originally EVGA 670 trying to upgrade to EVGA1070 super clocked.
128gb Sandisk ssd
1tb wd blue hd
Corsair cx500 psu
Windows 7 64 bit

Current situation;
computer stuck in a boot loop, no display output either on motherboard dvi, old gpu or new gpu. CPU fan spins for 5 secs then stops but all other fans continue. Then computer turns itself off after 30 seconds and then reboots.

I have a feeling I may have caused this failure.

How I got into this situation:

So having the 670 in the computer to begin with everything fine working as it always has.
Uninstalled nvidia drivers. Reboot. When logged in the computer started installing nvidia drivers again for old card. So had to uninstall again. After that I turned computer off and took out 670.

Put in 1070, connected power, slotted in correctly and screwed in. Plugged in dvi cable to display.
Turned on computer.
Computer booted, stuck on bios splash screen (q-flash? With normal bios options like del, f5, f9, etc.)
Then black screen and no signal displayed on monitor. 1070 fans not spinning but leds on so assume that is normal on start up.
Tried restarting a few times to no change.

Relplaced 670 back and it reinstalled nvidia drivers. And was working as it used to. So uninstalled drivers again, restart pc, entered bios, turned graphics to internal ( I forget the exact wording) save and exit bios.
Nothing displayed so restarted computer after taking 670 out and connecting display to motherboard dvi.

At this point I could log onto computer as normal so looked through this website to see why I was having trouble with 1070. Couldn’t find anything exactly like my problem but similar.
Rebooted pc after putting in 1070 and connecting display through it.
no signal again so back to motherboard dvi, downloaded nvidia driver via nvidia website, couldn’t find 1070.

Rebooted pc opened bios, disabled internal graphics and set display priority thing to PCIe (again can’t remember the exact wording - there was a choice of internal, peg or pcie).
At that point saved and exited bios but still blank screen. Restarted computer no display output but 1070 fans and leds are on.
This then leads to the current situation as stated at the top of the post.

For those who have got this far, I am very greatful for your attention span and any help you may be able to offer!

To be honest, this might just be a good excuse to buy new up to date components anyway. :/ just didn’t expect to do it just yet.

Could you test the GPU in another PC? Perhaps switching the GPU outputs & inputs of the monitor as well, just to remove unnecessary concerns... Made sure to properly plug the new cables? Which monitor is it?

If none of these works, perhaps it's a faulty GPU, let's hope not.

Unfortunately I have no other pc’s with which to trial. One which I do have is too old, incomplete and the graphics card is too big for the computer case! Plus I have no actual ‘gamer friends’ that can help. Maybe I’ve somehow buggered the motherboard?

That's unfortunate. Maybe a local shop might help you, you could try that.

That's unlikely, but doesn't hurt to try. Clear it's CMOS to reset to it's default configuration.

I have tried resetting the cmos but no change. Just continues to a reboot loop. Also just noticed the motherboard is not providing power to my backlit keyboard - used to light up as soon as I switched on. This is what makes me think there is something wrong with the mb. But then most of the fans work, just not the cpu one.

Update:
Managed to test RAM in another PC and they are all fine.
Rifling around in the loft and found a motherboard speaker, which emits 'beep-beep-beep(pause)beep-beep-beep'. As I understand this generally either means first 64kb memory error or motherboard error.
