I am deciding between a 1070 or a 1080 for 1080p 144hz gaming. My friend says don't go anything below 1080 though based off other posts, I am not sure if it's the right choise. I am mainly going to play Overwatch though I may plan on going to play some other titles in the future. If I plan on getting 2 monitors (one 60hz for editing/ discord/ spotify and the other 144hz for gaming) how long would the 1070 last before having to upgrade and how long would the 1080 last before needing upgrades.
Thanks :)

you have made some terrible choices with parts

MUCH better:

Storage: Samsung - 850 EVO 250GB...
The 1080 has a bit more headroom but is largely considered overkill for 1080p 144Hz outside of certain highly demanding titles, many of which you can't get a consistent 144FPS in anyway due to CPU limitations. It probably would help to know what CPU you have, once you take the plunge into high refresh rate gaming, CPUs can become a bigger limiting factor to your framerates.

Well the monitor in your current list is almost certainly only 60Hz. The only IPS 144Hz panels available right now are in 1440p, which is harder to drive and would definitely benefit from a GTX 1080 if you insist on an IPS panel. I run a 1440p 144Hz display myself, and I tend to get about 80-90FPS in most current AAA titles with a GTX 1070. For 1080p 144Hz, the 1070 will do a good job, the 1080 does have some more headroom and could last a bit longer before you might feel the need for an upgrade, might be worth considering if you want to try to get 3+ years out of your graphics card, if not you could save some money, get the 1070 and maybe put the money saved towards a bigger SSD. 120GB is quite small these days.

The i7 7700 would do nicely. The 7700k is better, but in order for it to make a big difference you'd need a Z270 motherboard and you'd need to overclock it.

Thanks. I am not going to get that monitor just that is the one my friend requested.

I am decideing between these two monitors. They are at 2 big price ranges but I am still not sure if it would be worth it. Right now I have that 60Hz monitor I was talking about before and I am planning on useing it till I can buy a newer one.
Thanks

I have GTX1080 and 144Hz 1080p monitor, also had GTX1070 that I returned.
I strongly suggest you use GTX1080 to stay as close as 144fps(and even with a 1080 you can not always get 144fps)
GTX1070 is 15%-20% weaker so you do the math.
