Depending on the game/benchmark, this may not be an upgrade at all (a side-grade or even a down-grade).

Depends on the game and settings, but yes, it should be around 50%+ faster in general, its not double the performance but in places where the 1070 was somewhat struggling, the RX 6600XT should pull you through with no problems. That being said, personally, 50% is the minimum point where you should consider upgrading your graphics card, preferably you should get something with an 80%+ performance difference if youre looking for something to hold on to for the long haul.
