[SOLVED] 10700k to 11900kf a good idea on this sale?

I mean, we all know 11gen had a bad start, none the less, i've got a sale going in which the 11900kf is literally going for the same price as the 10700k, and I wouldnt touch the 11700k cause its slower in some situations, however, with the 11900kf going for the exact same price (minus igpu anyways) i could at least take advantage of pcie 4.0 if theres any to be had on a pcie 4 nmve and rtx 3080, plus a little bit of extra performance I suppose, I already run my 10700k at full time 5.1 so the extra juice it consumes wouldnt be much of a concern, and then again, i was considering the upcoming direct storage, its said that pcie 4 compatible should be faster than 3.

What do you think?

On the multicore side the 11900F will make a difference if it is just games then I would not bother and the additional benifits for PCIe Gen 4 on drives and GPU will only make a very slight difference and probably in real world use you might not even feel it.

If you can make use of the extra cores and threads then okay...maybe but I would save and make the jump to Alder lake for proper PCIe Gen 5. Even the 12400 is a exceptional and the 12600 and 12700 are a big improvement of 11th Gen. Wait and save as you have 12th gen now, plus Raptor Lake and AMD 7000 around the corner...
Offhand, it seems like a lot of trouble for relatively minor improvements.

But maybe you do that kind of thing constantly and don't mind the hassle of changing hardware?

well, to be fair the only reason im considering this is the pcie 4.0 support, if mine had i'd be golden for a fews years. with 12 gen out it maybe sound a bit ironic but im merely trying to secure pcie 4.0 and be good for a couple of years ahead. Because of the sale, i could sell my 10700k and frankly not dish out too much cash to get the 11900k, but for instance i'm hoping for not dealing with heat concern since they're supposedly quite hot? i'd probably slap 1.35v around and try for 5.2 24/7 and settle, but on mine im spiking 82c in a few games, but mostly stay at 75. I live in a hot place unfort.

You don't have to overclock you know. 11900k stock is certainly going to be as fast as your 5.1Ghz 10700k. Let it boost to 5.3Ghz, it will probably sit at 5.1Ghz under load normally.

I've been tempted myself, but aside from slightly improved storage speeds and the few percent I can gain from my 3080Ti, just seems more sensible to wait for 13th gen or whatever follows Ryzen 7000.
