hello community,

I want upgrade my gtx 750 to slightly more powerful card but the problem is, my monitor is just 1080p and I don't know when I will upgrade to a 1440p monitor maybe next year dec. or early 2020.

my local store is currently having a gigabyte gpu sale. the 1070ti @ $430 and the 1080 @$500. should I buy the gtx 1070ti and spend the $70 on a ssd or splurge myself with the gtx 1080 and stick to the hdd and later buy the ssd in a month or two?

also I play a lot of games like, dota 2, pubg, ros, the division, aion, tera, black desert online, tomb raider series, witcher 3 and assassins creed etc. I do want to play the current and incoming AAA games with 60fps with no stutter, so which one should I chose?

Solution
The 1070 ti seems the best value there. With a few minutes of overclocking you would be at about the same performance as the 1080s while saving a few dollars.

@rodolphe.viard

Mobo : b450 gaming pro carbon
cpu: ryzen 2700x
hdd: 1tb wd blue
psu: seasonic focus+ gold 650w
ram: teamgroup xcalibur 3600mhz cl18
monitor: asus vz229 1920x1080p non freesync/gsync

as you can see all thats left to upgrade is the gpu and monitor. was holding out for black friday.

the gigabyte models on sale are:

GIGABYTE GEFORCE GTX 1070 TI GAMING - $430
GIGABYTE GEFORCE GTX 1080 TURBO OC - $500
GIGABYTE GEFORCE GTX 1080 WINDFORCE OC - $510

if you where to choose between an MSI duke vs Gigabyte Gaming 1070ti which would you pick? i kinda like the duke's aesthetics but the Gigabyte is clocked higher and there's not much review/comparisons between these two.
