Hello,

I am relatively new to pc gaming. I am currently gaming at 1920x1080 and have no interest in updating to 4k at this time. Having said that, will a GTX 1070 or 80 be sufficient in that resolution with todays games? I mostly just play mmo's and online games, not really into the big blockbuster single player games. Thanks

should be good enough. i have a 1650 super that runs fine at 1080p and the cards you mentioned are stronger.

however, there are plenty of newer cards that are just as good or better that don't cost much. depends on the price really, but i'd look at something much newer if you are buying right now..

GTX 1080 can still easily work with modern AAA games.

"Plenty" is... kind of an overstatement, imo. This generation and the previous one were stingy with generational improvements and their prices are falling slowly, so there aren't many comparable or better new GPUs selling at comparable prices, which probably means at/below 200€ for OP, but I'm not sure about prices in his region. The only one is probably the RX 6600, at least where I live it's just 50-60€ more expensive, 210€ vs 150/160€ for the cheapest "Buy Now" GTX 1080 on Ebay.

For what you want to do, yeah the 1070 or 1080 would be fine. For that matter, something like the RX 580, GTX 980 Ti or R9 Fury would also be fine.

However, as ThatVietGuy rightly pointed out, for games like that, your CPU would be just as important if not more. What CPU do you have?
