Hi Folks!

Right im running

2700k @4600
32GB DDR3 1600
ROG Extreme - Z iV
And a gtx 660......

Im wanting to upgrade from the 660 to the 1080, my board, and cpu run pcie 2.0 I believe.

I have a nice fancy ROG 4k monitor which, believe it or not, the 660 runs perfectly for desktop/videos and on low settings for games.

Can anyone give me a ballpark bottle neck % the 1080 will suffer due to my older gear?

The 2700k won't bottleneck any card out there. You having pcie 2.0 is also not an issue. Performance difference between 2.0 and 3.0 is minimal.

I agree the 2700K is a fantastic cpu and with your impressive OC of 4.6ghz

Your ram speeds could/should be higher for 4k but that can always be OC later or upgraded down the road if not satisfied with your 4k performance only .

Thanks guys.

Im not a hardcore gamer at all but just wanted some ideas of how my set-up would compare to a Skylake equivalent. I love the Sandybridge CPU's also and hope to run mine for a long as possible.

Ill look into the RAM once I have the card, I appreciate it could be faster.

Thanks

The difference would only be noticeable in charts. Side by side testing you'd never know which was which imho.

Ah, perfect.

I'm not really bothered either way, was just nice to know.

Thanks again guys.
