1080 OR 1060 with ASUS VG248QE

Title sais it all, im currently unsure if i should either get the 1080 or the 1060 with the monitor, can someone help me out?

Depends on the games you play and what you expect, why isn't the GTX 1070 an option? If you play mostly esports titles (csgo, league, dota) then the GTX 1060 (or an RX 480 4GB) will be just fine. If you play AAA titles and want to be over 100fps almost all of the time with the settings cranked, GTX 1070. If you're ok with not having every graphics option turned to max and still want 100fps+ in AAA titles, then the GTX 1060 can still do that. The GTX 1080 is too much for even 1080p144 in my opinion.

because of money, i have 600 to spend, and the 1070+the monitor would be over budget

Ohhhhhhhhh, that's what you meant, didn't understand that from the way you worded it. I'd get the GTX 1060 6GB or RX 480 and the 144hz monitor if the other option is a GTX 1080 on a 1080p60 monitor (or no monitor, since you didn't say what you currently have).

well i only have a very cheap monitor atm, so the 1060 (msi?) and the monitor, right?

^ I misunderstood the title is well. Thought you already owned a 1080p 144 Hz display and wanted to pair it with either a 1060 or 1080. Yes, I too would opt for the new display + GTX 1060.
