Question 1080 ti in 1440p?

So my current system is
Gtx 1060 6gb
Ryzen 5 2600x
16gb ram

I’m thinking about upgrading to a new 27 inch monitor and playing in 1440p in the near future. Is the gtx 1080 ti sufficient enough for 1440p?

Also, is a 650w psu enough for it to run?

Certainly sufficient, but then so is a GTX1060 depending on what you are doing. In most recent titles you will see 80-100FPS at max settings with a 1080Ti @ 1440p. I'm sure there are a few games out now that will be worse, but few come to mind.

Would depend a bit on the 650W in question, but generally, yes. Half the output would be dedicated to the GPU alone though, so with the rest of the system it might cause the fan to spin up more then usual.

I’m not looking to play any super demanding games. Things like hitman 2, pubg, csgo. Do you think the 1060 can handle 1440p? If it can, that would save quite a bit of money.

Hitman 2 seems reasonable. 1440p/High is roughly 60FPS.
Not 100% sure on PUBG, can't find any reliable data it seems. Maybe 50 or so FPS at 1440p, but nothing says you can't just run that one at 1080p.

Maybe see if you can track down a used 2070 or 2060 Super. Around that same price unless you are getting quite a deal on a 1080Ti. (Would also use a lot less power)

Now now i know i am late and I just randomly saw this post so i dont know how much i can still help. I have a 1080ti and use it for 1440p@155hz. It definetelly doesnt get even close to 155fps at high settings but a 1080ti is probably the cheapest card that can handle 1440p pretty well (considering i bought mine used for 450 euros). a 650w should be enough for it, i have a 520w seasonic psu which can handle my i5 and 1080ti.

Hey, thanks for your reply. I’m still trying to figure out my future upgrades but I appreciate you telling me about your power supply. It’s good to know I most likely won’t need to upgrade that as well. Do you enjoy gaming at 1440p or did you prefer 1080p?
