1080 Ti is thermal throttling with certain games

I've done everything:

-cleaned out my components
-rearranged fan configurations
-took off OCs
-rearranged power configurations

I still get thermal throttling for games like Titanfall 2, PUBG, and Rainbow Six Siege (80-85 C)

Am I doomed to get the hybrid cooler for my card? What should I do?

You said you "cleaned out my components", that did include the cards heatsink right? Take the shroud off and make sure the heatsink is free of dust. If it used to work, it should still.

Only other thing I can think of is to try to limit it yourself. Drop the Vcore a bit, and the core frequency some as well. If you can stop it from hitting 85C where it wants to throttle, then you should be ok?

By vcore, you mean voltage right? Not familiar with that terminology.

I mean, it's off of its OC profile..so should I underclock and see what happens?

You shouldn't have to though. I suspect the sink isn't cleaned enough. You bought a card that should have 1080ti or better specs. Underclocking it shouldn't be needed. Vcore is the voltage yes. If it really is clean and not matching the specs of what you bought you might need to return it.

I currently have a 6800k with a 1080 Ti and I am gaming at 1440p. Now, when I play games such as Titanfall 2, Rainbow Six Siege, and PUBG, get really great frame rates but then they are cut in half. At first, I was thinking it was my GPU but with the way it's set up and the 65-70 degrees I was hitting? It wasn't that. I was thinking that my CPU was thermal throttling so I changed up the fan configuration, cleaned out my entire pc, and applied new thermal paste. I am still experiencing the same problem. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge towards this issue?
