1080 TI stops responding when mildy warm

Whenever my new Auros Extreme 1080 TI 11GB reaches 74C it just shuts down, crashing any game open. The case is well ventilated, drivers updated and has some decent juice (750W PSU), but whenever I max it out (example: Overwatch in 4k with all Ultra at 144hz), it just crashes the driver and forces me to lower everything and stay under 70C. Cards nowadays can go well over 80 and even 90, so I fail to see why this safety is in place.

74C, look at the image. And no, new behaviour. I had a 970GTX

CPU temps, not GPU temps.

Right. Didn't check that. CPU stays at 40% usage and 60C
Note it's not a shutdown: it's a driver crash.

There must be something I can do. Something that forces it to continue past 74C. OIt really feels like some kind of safety measure

That or the temperature monitoring program you're using for the TI is displaying incorrect temperatures. I doubt it though because I use GPUZ also. Try MSI afterburner see if there are any other clues.

Know of any trick to force fans to work at higher speed? Auros control app is absolute garbage

Uninstall every piece of overclocking and monitoring software. Clean all display drivers with DDU (free program). Reboot. Enter BIOS and completely disable Intel graphics. Install Nvidia drivers.

If that doesn't work it could be your power supply, or your card is defective. If it is, the VRM's are more than likely the culprit.
