[SOLVED] 1080 Ti vs 5700 XT which is better and will retain its price better?

Hey there! I'm split between a 5700 xt for 350$ and a 1080 Ti for 400$. I'm trying to make a choice that would allow me to sell the cards down the line in 2 yrs or so for the least net loss.

Nobody knows what the market for either of these cards will be like in two years; the best anyone can do is guess. Both probably will not retain their value very well when both AMD and Nvidia release their next gen cards in a few months.

They're fairly equal, I'd say the 5700xt has the edge.
Will almost certainly age better performance wise, historically amd always has.

Pointless question though, GPU power is progressing so rapidly now you'll lose money on either.

Buy based on what you need now, if the 5700xt is $50 less then it's clearly better value.

Tom's gpu hierarchy chart shows the cards to be similar in performance with a slight edge to the GTX1080ti.

A quick look on ebay completed auctions shows the GTX1080ti to sell for perhaps $400-$550.
RX5700XT is in the range of $350-$400.
In two years hence, who knows.
