Not a very good PSU choice, for the hardware being used. You can squeeze and i5 and GTX 960, into that budget, just barely.

I would keep the R9 280. cheaper than the 960 and similar or even better performance... The memory bus of the 960 is tiny, and I don't think you can SLI on the future (I might be wrong). the R9 280 has a much larger memory bus and performs amazing in cross-fire, better than a 290X. So when you want to upgrade you can add another 280.
Check this out, to support my argument:

I agree with the moderator about processor and PS. yo should go with that ^ build. If you get the AMD or NVIDIA video card is up to you, I would personally get the AMD. Maybe you can get a 280x???

Why does BF4 suggest the 660 if it doesn't meet the recommended video memory capacity? (3gb)

GPU boss is horrible. The GTX 960 is faster than a 280. The 960 actually competes against the 285.

disregarding my own parameter here but..

would an i3 outperform an fx6300?

Yes, an i3 would outperform an FX 6300, in gaming. FX 6300 would need to be overclocked, to beat it.

FX 6300 is 3yr+ old tech now. AMD has abandoned AM3+, and will have new chips out next year. FM2+ really isn't going to be around much longer either. The new 860k, supposedly when well clocked, is actually faster than FX. But there is no upgrade path there. AMD is going to put both their new Zen based FX chips, and APU's in a new AM4 socket. On the other hand, Haswell is set to be replaced, by Skylake, in a couple months. Skylake will only be about 5-10% faster, based on some early leaked benchmarks, so it won't be significantly better than what Intel has now. With an i3, you can upgrade to an i5 or Xeon E3/i7, and get a significant performance boost, should you need it. FX 6300's upgrade path is not so great, as none of the FX 8xxx, or 9xxx are all that much better, at same clock speeds.
