1080i video on lower resolution screen

Hi guys. I want to ask a question because i've searched on the web and haven't found a straight answer.

So the question is, If i have a 1280*960 screen, selecting 1080i on youtube videos make any sense? I mean since the screen has lower resolution does youtube convert 1080i videos to my screen resolution or is something else happening?

NO it doesnt but 720p is the ideal res for you. earlier it used to provide higher sound quality , but now its the same for all .
