Hey all, it's been a while. Here I am again seeking input for what I'm thinking about doing. I hope you all can offer some help!

Currently gaming on this old, outdated, display. As you can see it's time for an upgrade!

I'm 29, so I consider my self an old school guy these days and things like low frame rate, screen tearing, ghosting, etc are very noticeable to me so I do my best to mitigate it as best I can. On to my concerns/dilemma.

I am currently considering upgrading that old display to this new Acer XB241H bmipr. Yes it's still only a 1080p and not a IPS panel, but the reason behind this is to ensure a very high frame rate for a long time with my current setup, see signature below. 144hz, GSYNC, and a very high frame rate seems like it would offer a pretty steller setup. Also another reason I'm considering this is because I'm really not excited about spending another $800+ on a single item for my computer if I chose to go the 1440p, IPS, 27" route, which is the alternative. Buying my 980 TI back in March was the most money I've shelled out for a single piece of hardware, ever.

So with all that being said here are the other display's I'm looking at as the alternatives if I do not stay with a 1080p setup. Asus and another Acer.

What do you guys think?

I'm assuming you are saying this because the 144hz will nearly eliminate tearing? This is what I hear but I don't know from experience, which is the reason why I was going for a GSYNC setup.

HoTs, The Division, Rainbow Six: Siege, BF1, Witcher 3

What I plan to play in the coming months. For Honor, Ghost Recon: Wildlands

A decent mix of things I guess.

edit: missed a few. Overwatch, Diablo 3..that kinda stuff.

I don't really notice tearing on my 144hz monitor with gtx 1080 i believe gsync is most beneficial for 4k displays where your running below 60 fps where it helps the most.

I'd go with a 1440p 100+HZ G-Sync screen if you can afford one.

1080p in 2017 is not really worth it, as you will be using this screen for many years to come and will somewhen have a GPU that can easily handle it.

but they cost quite a bit (500$)

otherwise a nice 1440p IPS panel might be a good idea

Probably the fact that I'm gaming on a monitor that is just a plain, basic, and super dated compared to what is out. This is more of a mental thing so not sure if it even matters..

Screen tearing....it drives me mad when it occurs.

Then go for whichever Gsync monitor you can afford! no doubt...
