1080p 144Hz monitor on GTX 1060

I'm planning to buy gtx 1060 with a 1080p 144Hz monitor, and I wonder if the monitor will be worth it.

Especially if you play FPS games.
The thing is that to fully utilize that monitor (to get over 100FPS with maxed out settings) an i7 with GTX 1070 is required.
So you will have a system upgrade headroom long before the monitor.
