Hello, I play most games on 1920x1080 @ 144hz (ASUS VG248QE 24" monitor to be exact). Which video card would be best for me? Wanting to get the most frames (144) possible with my monitor. I was eyeing for a GTX 1070, or maybe even a GTX 1080, but I'm thinking the 1080's an overkill. Budget is around $500-600. Which aftermarket brand would be the best in terms of overall performance for the video card you'd recommend (ASUS, MSI, EVGA, GIGABYTE, etc.)?

Thanks in advance!

I don't how it is where you live, where I live the Asus & Evga models are a bit pricey.
Gainward has manufactured some good cards lately and are a bit cheaper at same clock speeds (at least here they are)
Read a test about the palit 1070, they're quite nice.
Keep in mind that most cards use the same fans anyway just with another painting. (Except the superocd Gigabyte with the 3x100mm & the x3&x4 by inno3d, the 3x supposedly being quite bad in terms of cooling profile)
If money is no issue, Asus Strix & Evga usually put out high quality customs but up to now you can't really do much wrong going for a gigabyte, a palit or a gainward as well. Even the MSI get high praises but is also a bit pricier. I'd just see what sellers got in stock...

I see that both the ASUS and ZOTAC have the best overall clock speed out of the box (both coming in at 1632). Which one would you recommend over the other?

There's No such thing as overkill when being prepared for the future lol. But joke aside overkill depends on the game. Take a look at GTA V @ 1080p with ALL settings (including MSAA and Advanced settings) maxed can cause frames to dip below 60 fps on a GTX 1080. If OP has money for nabbing a GTX 1080, he should go for it.

Decends is correct. GTX 1080 isn't over kill For 1080p. nowadays games aren't eating that much of GPU performance. Overall benchmarks proofing GTX 1070 is well performing in 1080p and 1440p and in the future it will burn out. My point is OP has money then he should go for GTX 1080 or he could buy a GTX 1070.

Thank you for being the first person to spell my name right! Almost everyone tries to spell it Descends even though thats now how i prefer spelling it. 😀

Yep Decends brother 😀 your name very difficult to spell and type : oh god : i lost in keyboard mannn, 😱

whatever man,
I think OP has gone , no react for our opinions

I don't really play graphics intense games. Just moderate graphics on a 144hz monitor at 1080p. Wouldn't the 1070 suffice? If so, which brand would you go for? If not, which brand for the 1080?

You could buy GTX 1070 OC or gaming edition
I recommend Gigabyte GeForce® GTX 1070 Xtreme Gaming

I wouldn't be sure an Asus Strix is really worth 45€ plus to a gainward at basically same clocks like it is where I live.
