1080p 240hz vs 1440p 144hz

I currently own a 1440p 27 inch 60hz monitor, and I want to upgrade my hz. Would you guys recommend a 1080p 24.5 inch 240Hz monitor or a 1440p 27 inch 144hz monitor. My current PC specs are: GTX 1080 with an I7 7700 and 16GB of ram.

1440p @ 144Hz. The difference from 144Hz to 240Hz is rarely even correctly identified by people in blind studies.

Assuming you mean games your PC can manage that amount of frames there may be a difference in input latency. Recent game wont reach 240fps though.
