thats right i'm playing most of my games at 1920x1080 resolution on my dell e2009w which is native 1680x1050 max.

how is that possible?? would it destroy the monitor faster??

the settings just shows up at the game menu i'm just confused and curious how it works.

tnx.

That is a form of Anti aliasing, like Nvidias DSR. The GPU renders it at a higher resolution then scales it back down to the native resolution, resulting a better picture with less "jaggies"

The graphics card is not generating a 1920x1080 picture. Its generating a 1680x1050 picture and sending that to the monitor. Your video game settings allow you to choose the 1920x1080 resolution because it doesn't know your monitor's hardware limits. Its like the game is suggesting the GPU to draw an HD picture if possible. Its not demanding an HD picture.

And no, its not going to destroy anything.
