If I am to run games @ 1080p with a single 24" 60 hz monitor and have another 24" secondary monitor, would GTX 1060 6gb be enough? or do I need 1070 for it? I playing games like WoW type and Diablo type MMORPGs and then some CSGO and PUBG sometimes.

Budget is an issue. I can get the 1060 6gb in maybe a week w/ my current savings. However, for 1070, might take 3 to 4 more weeks of saving due to bills.

Not interested in Sept 20 release of RTX cards. Obviously overkill for me :D

GTX 1060 FE vs GTX 1070 FE. About a 40% performance gap. This is not taking into account the AiB like the Asus Strix etc that have faster clock speeds.

GTX 1060 FE vs RX 580. Very close with the 1060 having an advantage in some titles.

GTX 1070 FE vs RX 580. Large favor to the GTX 1070.

If you want 2 years the 1070 will be the best option. If you want 1 year then the 1060 would be the best option. The RX 580 will push near or match and maybe sometimes, depending on the game, beat the 1060 and cost a bit less so maybe push it to a year and have some extra money saved to buy a...
A 1060 6GB should be fine as a second monitor shouldn't take any real power to run. I run two 1080p monitors and have since my HD7970GHz GPU and never noticed any issues.

We have some mods who play WoW and a GTX 1060 is enough for them. Diablo 3 should be fine on a 1060, its not the most advanced game graphically and is 6 years old now. CS:GO is using Source2 but it still should run well unless you want 500FPS (joking as I have actually seen those threads).

I cannot say for PUBG. Never played it or have been into those style games but I think a 1060 6GB should be enough

hi Jim! thanks for a detailed response. However, I don't exactly play WOW and Diablo 3. What I actually mean was those types of games? Not sure though if there are big differences on game engines used on MMORPGs but I know WOW and Diablo 3 to be exact are oldies now. :D Maybe I should mention exactly the games I wish to play and those are:
MU Legend
Lost Ark (not yet released)
and then maybe Monster Hunter World PC
also World of Warships
and maybe any other possible MMORPGs to be released in the next year or two.

CSGO & PUBG are just like "side games" for me

Also might help to mention I'm planning to keep the new video card in no less than a year and no more than 2 years since my current GPU is 2 y/o already.

thanks!

Lost Ark. I have been waiting for that to launch forever. Remember the first gameplay video from like 2014. That said a GTX 1060 6GB should still be good enough. Most MMOs tend to be on the lower side of visual fidelity, mainly because when you have a lot going on in a raid or world boss it would provide a poor experience.

Now for 2 years out a 1070 would absolutely bee the better option. They are mostly $399 right now on Newegg and might go a bit cheaper. Did you have a budget and certain card you are looking at?

No particular budget. Only a matter of time for savings. lol

This list is what I'm currently looking at:

GTX 1060

Palit DUAL FAN 3gb - 220 USD
Palit Jetstream - 310 USD
Asus Dual 6g (white) - 310 USD
Asus Strix (3 fans) - 330 USD

GTX 1070

Palit Dual Fan - 365 USD
Palit SUPER JETSTREAM - 385 USD

GTX 1070 ti

Palit DUal Fan - 395 USD
Palit Jetsream - 413 USD
Zotac AMP Extreme - 450 USD
Asus Strix - 450 USD
MSI Duke - 450 USD

These are the current prices in my country right now. Prices stated are already inclusive of shipment to my place.

I know it may sound stupid but I'm in the middle between GTX 1060 Strix vs GTX 1070 Palit Dual Fan. The best of the best GTX 1060 vs like ugly AF GTX 1070. lol

GTX 1070

Asus Strix - 408 USD
Gigabyte Windforce - 388 USD

There are cheap USED cards around. Very very tempting yet I know I will never have PEACE OF MIND when buying second-hand parts. lol (Unless used parts is from a friend) So, it's a go brand new or go home thing for me.

I just want to basically know if GTX 1070 is worth the longer time of saving or I'm going to be having the same experience w/ a 1060 because im just running a 60hz 1080p display. :D

Just today: There's a Sapphire Pulse RX 580 4gb on sale for 200 USD (shipped). Should I go AMD? I had troubles with their drivers before (2015-2016) that's why I switched. lol

As for drivers, I have seen issues on both sides. I used ATI/AMD from the 9700 Pro till my HD 7970GHz. I hade a couple nVidia before that. They do have a few times of driver issues but I will say they have gotten better although I think nVidia pushes more out faster than AMD does and I do like the current nVidia control panel way better than AMDs control panel. It feels more intuitive, much like the old Catalyst Control panel was.

All up to you in the end. I have a GTX 1080 and while the new RTX series intrigues me I will be sticking it out at least 1-2 more years.
