Hello, guys, good morning!

So, I've seen many people saying that a 144hz monitor provides excellent experience, however, I don't play FPS, MOBA or racing games, mostly 3rd person hack n slash (such as Final Fantasy XV very soon, Monster Hunter World), Metal Gear Solid V, The Witcher 3, Assassin's Creed Origins, these things. I would like a monitor with a refresh rate that will suit my gaming profile and that at the same time will keep me comfort with many releases. Since an EXOC 1070 is overkill to play in 1080p, I'd like a refresh rate that will ensure I don't have to lower any graphic setting. I don't mind much under utilizing the maximum power of my rig, I just want to play at max settings. So, I'm much more interested in: very high image quality > refresh rate.

That's my rig, thank you very much!

I would never even consider buying 1080p 60hz monitor for a 1070, especially with a budget of 450 dollars. If you are really that set on 60hz I would look at a 60hz 1440p monitor, the 1070 should be able to max out most games or come close at 1440p 60fps. In my opinion high settings 1440p would likely look better at least sharper and more crisp than 1080p max settings.

What do you mean force 144hz? The GPU will give you whatever framerate it is capable of in a game, 80fps would look just fine on a 144hz monitor.

For 450 you could get a 1080 144hz or higher gsync panel. Gsync is basically variable refresh rate technology, it matchs the refresh rate of your monitor to the framerate your game is running at. So for example with gsync if...

I like a 144hz refresh rate in any game I can run at over 60fps. It is a misconception that a 144hz is only useful for twitch FPS games and the like, I personally can enjoy high framerates in any game certainly something like MGS5 or The Witcher 3.

What is you budget for a monitor? Any interest in gsync? So many monitor options nowadays I dont know where to begin recommending something without a budget.

$450 is my budget. So, meanwhile I was thinking of the refreshing rate and I'll detail what I think.

There are two things that bother me. 1st: temperature at higher loads (although my GPU is fine with that), so I imagine forcing 144 FPS would requiree me to push my GPU to the limit all the time, since that's a lot of effort to make 144 FPS at max settings (I don't wish to tone down settings). 2nd: I'm not willing to buy a new cardanytime soon (say 2 years). People say a 1070 is overkill at 1080p, but that won't last forever.

With those two points on, wouldn't a 60hz one suit more my situation or so? I have an AOC E2440V from 2011 here. I don't feel the smooth of 60 FPS, I only feel it when I watch videos on Youtube and when I watch my recorded gameplay in Windows Media, for example. Would getting a native 60hz give me that smoothness?

So for example with gsync if you had a game running at 113fps the monitor would run at 113hz, or if you were at 35fps the monitor will run at 35hz. This eliminates and and generally make for smoother gameplay.
