1080p monitor versus 1080p tv (same size)

Ok pretty simple question that I cant seem to find an answer. I know the difference between a large tv 1080 versus smaller 1080 monitor. Larger pixels versus small. However what's the difference in same resolution tv and monitor , of the same size. Why don't people buy 1080 tv cheaper than same size 1080 monitor.

Good question this, IMO 3 differences:

1.Smaller pixels in monitors: Monitors are meant to be viewed up close, thus smaller pixels and better aliasing as compared to TV's, which are meant to be viewed from a distance. TV's has bigger pixels at the same resolution and frame-rate.
2. Stepping up/down the resolution: Monitors are better at this.
3. Input ports: Monitors have DVI and VGA ports. While TV's contain RF input and AV input.

End of the day, the choice between monitors and TV boils down to the purpose the device is purchased for.

Ty for the response, I guees that's the excact answer I was looking for. Difference in pixels for the same size/resolution. I didn't know pixel size varied for this. I thought it was only for larger screens versus small.

While that above may have been true a few years ago the difference between monitors & TV's has closed considerably nowadays.
While a budget tv isn't going to compete with a mid range or high end monitor you would be hard pushed to tell any difference with a lower budget model.
99.99999% of 1080p TV sets have native HDMI & dvi inputs , decent DPI , & fairly low input lag & response times.
If you buy the right TV model its going to do as good a job as most budget range monitors.

Fair enough, I have an older monitor, and a 60 inch plasma. I haven't received new pc yet, but I will test it out either way. Ill most likely get a newer monitor down the like around 2k. Current monitor is 1680x1050
