1080p on 24" or 1440p on 32" any difference?

Hi all,

I was wondering if there is a difference in image quality when the ppi is the same for 2 monitors?
I am doubting between these options for a gaming monitor.

there's more to image than PPI.

It also depends on how close you sit. If I sit close enough to my 2560x1440 that the gaps become noticeable I'm sitting too close anyway.

The very closest I'd sit is 0.8X the diagonal for a 2560x1440 panel (ultra-wide is slightly different. A 34" 1440p panel is roughly the same HEIGHT as a 27", 2560x1440 panel so I'd still sit the SAME distance away. About two feet)

Why is it 1080p at 24" vs 1440p at 32"? That's a pretty big difference in price and monitor.

Not sure of BUDGET either but there are other considerations:

- panel type (I prefer IPS)
- refresh rate (144Hz is better than 60Hz even for non-gaming)
- GSYNC/FreeSync

One issue if you don't have GSync/FreeSync and 144Hz panel is that it can be tricky to optimize the experience. I recommend the "Half Adaptive VSYNC" options so the GPU caps at 72FPS if you can't output 144FPS easily.

I choose those two options because then the ppi is the same so the sharpness of the panel should be the same when sitting at same distance. I really like to have a 144hz monitor but I am doubting for the resolution cause I read that 1440 is much sharper, but this can be only on monitors of the same size right?

Isn't ultra on 1080 better then medium on 1440?
Also if a game has stable 90fps, will it look good on a 144hz?

Yes if the game is stable at 90 fps you should have a pretty good experience at a 144hz monitor. As for the monitor sizes. If you are sitting at a normal distance from the monitor the 27 1440 offers a much better experience than the 24 1080. But, the 32 1440 although it has the same ppi the sheer size of the monitor offers a much more immersive experience. Also if you do anything other than gaming, you would appreciate the real estate of the thing.
