So i recently connected my pc to my tv, it's a pretty decent ultra thin 1080p LG Bobby Mcjiggy. Looks fine.
I changed resolution to 1440p and it displays and works fine? This isn't right I know - could someone clarify what's going on?

My gpu is an MSI radeon RX580 8gb

Thanks in advance

You need to specify the exact model for your TV. LG never made a version you're stating in the thread's body. Also, which version of AMD's GPU drivers are you on?
Nono sorry I just meant it's a flat screen thin tv not bulky monitor. But only supposed to be Full HD etc.
The model is 42LB580V-ZM. Cheers in advance!

A 1080p Display can only display a 1080p or lower picture. Case in point. You can go to Youtube and change a videos settings from 480p to 720p to 1080p to 1440p to 2160 (4K) and you will be able to watch the video but your 1080p Display will max out at 1080P .
