Hi all,
I have a question which I need some help with, do I go for a 1080p or 1440p monitor? I mainly use it for gaming. Do I go for a 144Hz 1440p or 165Hz 1080p or a 240Hz 1080p? I'm looking at something like this right now but would like some advice.

I do currently have a NVIDIA 1060 GPU but that could potentially be upgraded when the 3060 are released. I'm based in the UK, trying to keep it around £300 if possible. Any suggestions?

What type of games do you play? The 1060 6GB is an ok 1080p 60Hz card if playing modern AAA games. The 1060 is not really strong enough for 1440p unless only playing esports. We don’t know anything about the 3060 but I’d be surprised if it’s a good choice for 1440p 144Hz as that is top end gpu performance levels.

if you want value for money I guess 144hz 1080p , you wont actually find any difference when using 1440p its almost the same, it will just lower your FPS for no reason, go for 144HZ because it's alot better than 60HZ actually. but for 240 i didnt try it before

There is a huge difference in picture quality when running 1440p at 27” or above. Having gone 1440p I’d not go back to 1080p.

I owned a 144Hz monitor which was damaged when I was moving and cant go back to a 60Hz. Currently using a 75Hz but gaming with it feels bad. My 1060 is outdated and I'm due to upgrade just waiting to see what prices will be after the 3060s series is released, if it is too much will look at the 2060 super and/or 5700 or similar. I play main shooters but also simulations/action adventure. From the ones I listed what would be best for me? Is there a monitor that is better?

Appreciate the fast response.

I would look at 1080p. I’ve never used a 240Hz screen and generally unless you mainly play esports you are unlikely to be getting 200+FPS. I’m running a 2080 Super @ 1440p 144Hz and to get 120+ FPS in newer AAA games requires a mixture of settings. I also have laptop with a 2060 and 1080p 144Hz and that also requires a mixture of settings for 120+ FPS. COD MW for example requires a mixture of medium/high in both systems. We don’t know what the 3060 card will do but I would expect it to be another strong 1080p card and would require settings to be significantly sacrificed for 1440p.

I'm thinking 1440p, is there anything better than a Iiyama GB2760QSU-B1 or AOC CQ32G1?
