1080P Output in Dell S2716DG Monitor???

So I recently bought the dell s2716dg monitor, it's a 27 inch monitor with a maximum resolution of 1440p. So my question is.... for example if I play a game on this monitor in 1080p will the output be stretched with black bars on the side, stretch without black bars on the side, or will it perfectly fit with the monitor display??

Depends on the game actually, tried it with Assassins Creed IV the game itself is stretch(no black bars) characters looked too tall and disproportionate though

You can set that option in your graphics control panel. Sometimes the monitor will have it's own option as well that overrides. But they are the same aspect ratio so will have no black bars.

By default the monitor will just display 1920x1080 full screen.
The PC outputs 1920x1080 and the monitor will scale this to full screen.
The native resolution will always look better. You will certainly notice the difference if you can run at 2560x1440.
