1080p PC on 1440 monitor

I have a all-in-one pc, which supports up to 1080p monitor resolution. My question is: can I connect it to a 1440p monitor? I don't want to run that monitor at 1440p (I know it's impossible), I'm just asking if a 1080p pc can run a 1440p monitor in 1080p.
This is because I am going to get soon a new pc, so I don't want to buy a 1080p monitor just for using it a few months.
Any answers? Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken an all-in-one PC acts as it's own monitor. Are you then trying to connect the 1440p monitor to replace it or run alongside it? Regardless, you'll be able to change the monitors resolution to 1080.

If your all-in-one pc has an HDMI or DVI-D port, then you should be able to drive a secondary monitor, in addition to the built in one. I don't see why Windows wouldn't allow you to set the second monitor as primary. They key will be having the actual plug to run the monitor. An alternative would be a USB to Video converter.

I'm so sorry, I made a mistake. I don't have a all-in-one PC, but something like an intel NUC (maybe it is called a PC-box?), to be exact the CompuLab utilite. It can support no more than 1080p monitor, but since in the next months I will buy an Intel NUC I am going to buy directly a 1440p monitor.
So my question is if I can actually connect the Utilite to my 1440p and if it will work (obviously in the non-native resolution of 1080p)

Sorry for the mistake and for my bad English.
