[SOLVED] 1080p Video Quality Better on 4K or 1440p Monitor?

Looking to purchase a new monitor, either a 27' QHD or 32' 4K. My question is will 1080p video look worse on the 1440p monitor compared to the 4K? My understanding is that as 4K is exactly double 1080, the video will look the same as it would on a normal 1080p monitor (4 pixels used for 1 pixel of video).

Is this correct?

Asking as I don't want to watch video with black bars (hence why I am not getting ultra wide). But I also don't want 1080p video to look stretched or blurry.

Solution
If the video is at 1080p, it will just be up-scaled, but still be 1080p. There are some technologies being developed that use AI to artificially generate missing detail at 60FPS in resolutions as high as 8K, but that's far off. For the time being, whether the monitor is 1440p or 4K, you're watching a 1080p video.

That's a myth. Most 4K displays apply scaling methods which do affect 1080p.
