1080p vs 4k monitor

Depends on the type of game you play and how strong your graphics card is.
4k puts more demand on the graphics card.
For fast action games, the faster panel with g.sync will be better.
For games such as strategy or mmo, the higher resolution will let you see more and 60fps is fine for those.
If you go to a 4k monitor, consider one of the wider 34" monitors, it will be more immersive.
4k tends to have small text so a larger monitor is better.
