1080ti or 2080?

hi, i would like to know what you guys think, i have money for either buy a GTX 1080 ti or buy a RTX 2080...i know i have to wait for the 2080 benchmark but for now is it better to buy the 1080ti or the 2080...your opinion??

At this point nobody has any idea how the 2080 will perform compared to the 1080Ti.

I can tell you what I did... 😉

I bought an EVGA GTX 1080Ti FTW3. 😀

I don't regret it one bit either.

Can go either way. I'm sitting here with a GTX 1080 Ti wishing it was an RTX 2080 (Ti). I've thought about upgrading, but I don't think it would be justified. I just got a new 1440p G-SYNC monitor and I must say games do look amazing on it with my 1080 Ti.

The 1080 ti is probably the better buy for now. Most of the 2080 improvements seem to be focused on Ray tracing and we frankly have no idea if games are really going to get on board with Ray tracing or how long it will take for it to be common place. Not to mention early indications are you take a FPS hit if you turn Ray Tracing on. So it might be a repeat of 4K gaming, sure you can do it but no card can currently provide enough horsepower to have reliably high FPS on high settings.

Frankly its probably best to skip the 2xxx series and wait for the 2nd gen of Ray Tracing.

CPU:i7-8700K
Ram: Corsair Dominator (ROG Edition) 3200Mhz 4x4GB.
Mobo: MSI M370 Gaming 7
GPU: MSI Gtx 1070

so replacing my 1070 with 1080ti will be very noticable??

Yes, there is a HUGE difference in the GTX 1070 and GTX 1080Ti.

At 1080p the 1080 Ti won't be fully utilized. It would give you a lot of headroom for the future though. I felt my 1080p 144Hz (non G-SYNC) monitor was holding my 1080Ti back, so I got the 1440p 144Hz G-SYNC.

Even heard of the EVGA step-up program? It is perfect for current situation. Buy a cheap EVGA 1080 Ti now and wait for the real launch and benchmark. You've got 90 days to make decision.

I just bought EVGA 1080Ti SC2 when B&H got it for $599. Amazon even got a Zotac 1080 Ti for only $529 earlier last week..The price is dropping fast...
