Question 1080ti problem

I just recently bought a used 1080ti founders edition. I got to play on fs22 for about an hour and then my gpu usage pegged at 100% and my fps went down to an unplayable 5 fps. The temp stays around 40*c and my cpu usage is sub 20%. I figured my motherboard or cpu went bad so I went and bought a i9 9900k and z390 motherboard. I also took the 1080ti apart and put new thermal paste in and installed all my new parts. My pc ran great for about 30-45 mins then the 1080ti did the same thing, jumped to 100% and fps dropped to 6 fps. No matter what driver I download or resets that I do, the gpu won't perform. Any ideas? Thanks

Looks like a bad purchase. Return for refund.

I just installed my old 1070 in my pc and everything runs fine now. I guess I will just take the loss and save up for a 3000 or 4000 series card
