Just purchased an asus rog strix 1080ti. Mainly play pubg on my crap 1080p monitor.

Previously had an msi 1070.

Was expecting a big jump in fps. However it is roughly the same. Although I do have a few more settings on ultra.

I'll be at 120ish fps then drop to 70. I've also noticed my gpu usage is always around 50%, while cpu usage is almost maxed.

Is this just pubg? Is my 4690k bottlenecking the gpu?

Solution
PUGB isn't a great running game in terms of steady FPS; have similar issues with i7 7800X@4.8Ghz and 1080Ti; my i7 6850K@4.6Ghz/1080Ti system has the same issue as well.

If it's pretty much maxed out then the 4690K is the issue, overclocking it should help but PUBG isn't exactly the best optimized game. What I'd do is overclock that 4690K as far as it will safely go with decent cooling (should get like a 4.2ghz+ OC) then run the game in 2X Nvidia DSR. What this does is runs the game at a higher resolution then scales it back to your native 1080P resolution. Doing so will make the game look a bit better but also utilize your GPU much more due to the higher resolution. This option is found in the Nvidia Control Panel.

No, I have 16gb ram. I'll open windows system performance tab on other monitor while playing and cpu is maxed or close to, gpu 50%, ram is nowhere near maxed.

Also pubg is on 500gb samsung evo ssd
