Hello,
The 3900x costs $400 and comes with a cooler. The 10850k costs $400. And the 5800x costs $450. The 10850k and the 5800x do not come with a cooler, so I'd have to spend $40 extra on one.
My use cases would be Game Development, 3D modelling, video editing, and some light gaming (ex. Minecraft and Spore).

Which one should I get?

Hard to imagine any of them being 'inadequate'....

I'd probably go 5800X, personally (runs cooler, and even if it did not quite match a 12 core 3900X in multithreaded apps, I doubt it would ever be considered a laggard)...although that 3900X price is quite darn interesting...(you'd have to weigh the assorted editing comparisons between the 3 options and decide if one's performance advantages over another is significant enough to clearly point to a 'winner'...)

I did some research and found that the 5800x and 10850k are both faster for single core, with the 5800x being more so. For multi-core though the 3900x is far ahead. Between the other two left, 10850k is usually a bit ahead, but not by much because the 5800x does well in multi-threaded apps.
There isn't any clear definite winner though. The extra speed isn't going to have much of an impact because all 3 are anyway pretty fast. And 12 cores might be overkill for me, because I'm not going to be editing 4k video.
I had already bought a 3900x a few days before I made my original post. And because all of them are mostly good, I might keep it. I'm not sure if I really need to spend $50 more for the 5800x and $40 more on top of that for a cooler. But if the 5800x is a lot better than the 3900x then I'd pay the extra amount.
