11.9GB of 12GB of ram usable?

I recently looked at me spec because i was just doing maintenance and i saw that some of my ram was being allocated somewhere else is there a reason why this is happening.

The hardware is using a little bit. This is absolutely normal.

The actual amount of bytes is measured in Gibibytes, not Gigabytes. That is why it is 11.9. One GiB = 1,073,741,824 bytes.

Edit: Correction, the amount that you'll see on the box is in Gibibytes, the actual amount is less. I'm confusing this all in my head now 😛 just know it is less.
