Really the 386-40 was the most important milestone. I don't think I would be in the business if they didn't make it.

I learned the hard way to never buy state of the art as the real state of the arts is always 6 months out and always just beyond my reach. Bought one of the first Athlon chips at 800mhz only to find the 1ghz chip was released 1 month later. I was pissed that I spent my money already.
