Hey All,
With the release of GTA V I think that it is time for a new PC. Looking for a gaming pc in Australia for $1100 I am happy to build and I need the parts from reputable sellers. I only need a tower and windows thanks. I do not need a HDD or an Optical Drive as I can use an old one so an SSD would be good.

Seems like a miss match of CPU and GPU for gaming purposes, it is nice to get a i5 but it isn't going to be utilized as well as it can with a r9 270x.
I think a i3 4160 with a GTX 960 or a r9 280x would be a better match overall. Only problem with this build is if you want to upgrade you'd need to get a better GPU and CPU. Going with the i5 off the bat allows you to upgrade GPU on its own without worry of CPU performance. I just feel the initial performance will be lack luster.

Update: OP said he didn't need a HDD, that money can got to a 960 or r9 280/280x

Update 2: For information postage in Australia is very expensive and getting all Items from one place like pccasegear would potential keep prices down, shipping in bulk isn't too bad, lots of little things from lots of places gets more costly.

Update 3: Also keep in mind power cost, we pay around 33c+ per KW/H

I think the Rig Josese suggested is absolutely fine except instead of using 1 stick of G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB you should use 2 sticks of G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2x4). By doing so your memory will run in dual channel, more fast. And also I dont think in this you will be requring 650 watts PSU as your optimal usage will never go beyond 450 watts, so you can have 550 or 600 watts PSU and save some bucks.

Its your choice. If you dont want Nvidia GPU then you can also go for ATI as suggested by other guys in the forum but for rest of the Rig consider Josese's.

You can choose among different manufactures of Mobo and GPU depending upon the services at your place and also the price. Its your choice. However, ASUS and MSI are good (my personal choice).

This is nearly the same (except I used Corsair 550 watt PSU instead of 600) I assembled four days before and its working absolutely fine. I tested it on games like Resident Evil, Mass Effect-3, Fifa 14 at 1920x1080... Its really good

Sure.. you are right. If he has no problem in budget going up by $10 then it will be definitely a good choice. You keep on increasing number of $ and you can improve on every component. The thing is to keep it near $1100. But yes GTX 960 will be a smart choice.

But my build already has a 280x(better than both the 760 and the 960 not to mention has an extra gig of RAM) and a (lot) better psu 😀

Sure. R9 280x definitely better choice... but it effects my Electricity bill a lot and its a recurring expenditure. If power consumption isnt an issue then your build is good and if it is an issue... a big no no.

Its time to choose dude. I initially said, that first you have to choose between Nvidia and ATI!
