1151 Motherboard for i5 6500 CPU

Solution

That's an "okay" motherboard choice for the i5-6500 CPU. But, instead of the H110M, I would highly suggest getting a B250M motherboard for almost the same price (your MSI H110M Gaming is ~$89 + ~$6 shipping = ~$95):

Motherboard: MSI B250M BAZOOKA Micro ATX LGA1151...
I would get a B250 board, and give you leeway to upgrade at a later time to a 7770 later

here is boards side by side compare.... B250 is well worth the extra 11$

Note that the B250-chipset motherboard has better features than the H110-chipset motherboard. The B250 is also compatible with both 6th-gen Skylake CPUs (such as the i5-6500) AND the 7th-gen Kaby Lake CPUs should you choose to change your CPU to that one (or upgrade later on). The 7th-gen CPUs on a B250 motherboard would support the DDR4-2400MHz RAM speeds (if you use 6th-gen, the 2400 will just downclock to 2133MHz).

The H110 only has 6x PCIe2.0 chipset lanes, while the B250 has 12x PCIe3.0 chipset lanes (these means more and faster motherboard connectors that are controlled by the chipset). Overall, the H110 motherboards only provides a maximum of 14x PCIe lanes for connectors while the B250 provides up to 25x. The H110 does not have an M.2 socket while the B250 features an M.2 socket (should you choose to get an M.2 SSD in the future). The H110 only has 2x DIMM/RAM slots working on dual channel, the specific B250 motherboard above has 4x (two pairs in dual channel). The H110 only has 4x SATA ports while the B250 has 6x. The H110 can have at max. 10x USB3.0 ports, while the B250 can have 12x USB3.0 max.
