12 GB 1600 vs 8 GB 1866 RAM

I fried one of my 4GB G Skill Snipers (1600) and am looking for another set. Im debating wether to jump up a speed (or more) or stick with 1600 and slap * GB more with my 4 GB Im running now. JW what I should do, PC is used for 90% gaming and 10% internet

If it matters I'm running an i7-4770k, 770 windforce 4gb, and an Asus Maximus VI mobo

That supports dual channel so 2x4GB is plenty for gaming, you will not notice any performance difference between 1600 and 1866 ram.

I got 4 channel support, but I'm debating whether the 8gb of 1866 would he worth tossing my spare 4gb of 1600. Thanks for the reply though. I'm looking at is as I have an extra 4gb 1600 sniper so should I add on to that and have 12gb or toss it and have 8gb 1866

I recommend buying a new kit and replacing the old one. It's considerably more stable to just use a brand new kit than to mix and match RAM.

I would leave that system with 2 x 4Gb of matched ram, so 1866 in your case, there is no benefit from having the extra 4GB in there for your uses and being slower it will bring the other ram down.
