12 gb of total graphics memory but game only uses 2

I have a total of 12 gb of graphics memory comprising of 4gb dedicated and 8gb shared gpu memory but my game fortnite only uses almost 2 gb of memory and still lags

The R5 M335 is just an R5 M330 that's clocked very slightly faster.

There's nothing you can do with the GPU, it's a not an upgradable part in most laptops, including this one. When buying a laptop, it's always good to know in your decisions that except for RAM and the hard drive, what you buy is typically what you'll ever get out of it.

1. A game will only use as much graphics memory as it needs.
2. You would never want to use shared memory. If you ever got to that point performance would tank. Motherboard RAM is much slower than GPU RAM. If you are ever in a position where a game is using more video memory than a GPU has available. Turn down the settings.
3. Your speed problems are something else because of 1. What are the full specs of your computer?

Games will only use as much VRAM as it needs. It might keep a little more allocated if you have VRAM to spare, but that doesn't improve performance. Large amounts of VRAM is not very useful past a certain point, which for the vast majority of games, is in the 4-6Gb range if using high resolution and settings.

I only get around 30 FPS in fortnite and my game lags a bit too.i have updated my drivers and created a gaming profile for fortnite but the FPS is still low and I checked the task manager >performance >Gpu > it shows 100% utilisation and it’s only using 1.6 gb out of 4gb dedicated
graphics and 0.3 gb out of 8gb shared graphics memory so in all it’s only using 1.9 gb out of total 12 gb memory.And btw all my settings for fortnite are low or minimal

You have a slow graphics chip in your system. At the settings you are using, the game only needs 1.9gb of VRAM to get the best performance it is capable of. There is nothing you can do with your current laptop.

You have a laptop that should have both integrated Intel graphics and discrete amd graphics.

For gaming, you need to make certain you are using the discrete graphics and not the integrated graphics.
Windows power management will assign graphics to the more power efficient integrated adapter if you are not plugged in and have not selected a power optimized profile.

atharva291196 The issue isn't your VRAM usage. The AMD R5 M330 is a low-end mobile GPU that came out over 3 years ago and is 3 generations old: https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/gpu-compare/11297/radeon-r5-m335

Your performance is right on point for that GPU @ ~720p (1366 x 768) medium settings. In the first example below, the player was getting 20-22 FPS (768p/med) and 27-33 FPS (768p/off & low). I actually suspect that your performance in Fortnite would be greater if you disabled the R5 M330, and ran straight off the Intel processors HD 520 graphics. And with that said, if you're seeing 30 FPS with the greater 1080p resolution, then I strongly suspect that you're already running off the HD 520.

That doesn't change much. Your system is slow. You have to use low settings to get decent performance, and low settings doesn't need more than 2Gb of VRAM. Don't worry about your VRAM, it's not a significant factor. The speed of the GPU is the limiting factor here.
